The sophomore offering from Billy Currington is a solid country music cd, but there are a few questions.... I really like nearly the entire CD "Doin' Somethin' Right", but it is hard to picture Billy Currington as a hillbilly, as the opening track states "I Wanna Be A Hillbilly", especially after seeing the GQ-Ready Billy Currington photo in the CD booklet. Hey, I know there are probably some great looking hillbillies, but there aren't many bare-chested photos of them on sail boats, at least not that I've seen.

Now that I have the major flaw from this reviewers eyes out of the way (whether you agree or not ), let's get into the musical side of the CD shall we? Musically Doin' Somethin Right is a smokin' CD that will please both the traditional and new era country fans with it's selection of songs. There are your romantic, love-making ballads ("Doin' Somethin' Right" - top 10 at time of writing, and "She's Got A Way With Me") that are simply stunning, and plenty up tempo dance floor packing tracks.

The ballads are reminiscent of the feelings you could get from Kenny Rogers or Ronnie Milsap, and the smokers are as good, and sometimes better than some others you will hear on Country Music Radio today. Billy Currington brings it all together in a neat package that should gain many new fans and please the ones that he's already won over from his 2003 debut.

Be on the lookout for a number of hit singles from Doin' Somethin' Right, the title track is already reaching for the top of the charts. Currington co-wrote four of the eleven tracks on Doin' Somethin' Right, the best being "She's Got A Way With Me" and "Whole Lot More". It's obvious the gals will like the way Billy Currington looks, but hey, he's got the chops to back it up, that may qualify him for the "total package of the year" award! Any way you slice it up, if Billy Currington continues on this track, he will be around the country music scene for a long time to come.
