Review of Cleopatra 2525

CLEOPATRA 2525 is a series that you will either love, or you may hate depending on your perception. Gina Torres has become sort of an TV action star with credits like "Firefly", "Dark Angel", and "The Underworld" under her belt. The other 2 stars may not be as well known (Since Torres was also involved with the last 2 MATRIX movies), but they really do add some spice and sass to the show! Canadian actress Victoria Pratt (Mutant X, John Woo's Once A Thief) plays Sarge, there's the mysterious VOICE (Elizabeth Hawthorne), and of course playing the stripper from the past, Cleopatra, Jennifer Sky (Meet Market, Never Die Alone, Shallow Hal).

If you like scantily-clad gals with lazer guns and big....... explosions, then you will like Cleopatra 2525. This is not for all sci-fi fans. I have tried to explain to others since the DVD was released, this is more reminiscent of Evil Dead stuff (Very camp, sometimes downright silly) than Spider-Man. Most people seem to think just because Sam Raimi's name is in the credits this is going to be different. The fact here is, there is a lot of action, skin, and laughs, and some great special effects, but don't try and spend a lot of time on the actors other than the lead roles, there is a lot of bad (near criminal) acting going on here. Fun, but not for the serious sci-fi fan, Cleopatra 2525 may be more for the puberty aged males.....

Earth 2 Series DVD Set Review

Well, this is more like it. If the earth was in trouble and you needed a new place to live, where would you go? In the future maybe we could run away to another planet, maybe that would be the answer in the case of impending global destruction. in Earth 2, Debrah Farentino (Son of the Pink Panther, Trail of the Pink Panther) stars as Devon Adair, who along with her son Ulysses and a crew are "shipwrecked" so to speak on a planet they were to check for compatibility with colonization.

Earth 2 also stars Clancy Brown as Danziger (better known today as the voice of Mr. Krabs on Spongebob Squarepants), small screen star Jessica Steen as Dr. Heller, soap opera star Antonio Sebato Jr., Rebecca Gayheart (Scream 2, Urban Legend, Urban Legends the final Cut) and others. The premise is good, and the story is strong, but the aliens are really cheesy. All in all though, Earth 2 was a good show, and having it on DVD at a time where the sci-fi on TV is less than notable is a positive thing.
