It is not even questioned that Rod Stewart is one of the most recognized voices and rock talents of all time. On Still The Same Great Rock Classics of our Time Rod adds his vocal charm to some honest classic rock tracks. From the first single release "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" to Van Morrison's "Crazy Love" Stewart's latest offering is filled with, for the most part, many immediately recognizable songs.

Coming after his multi-platinum series of American Songbook CDs, Rod Stewart proves he's still got some energy left in those pipes. Still The Same is directly geared for the Adult Contemporary market, but has some Country Crossover potential as well, if that is the country music community would accept Rod into their fold. The CD is filled with slow to mid-tempo tracks that simply won't enter the Rock market, and it doesn't need to.

The strongest of the 13 tracks include Have You Ever Seen The Rain, Stewart's take on Bonnie Tyler's It's A Heartache completely fits, the Pretenders I'll Stand By You and Yusuf Islam's (Cat Stevens) Father and Son. On the flip side there are some nearly forgettable tracks here too John Waite's Missing You, and a mediocre version of Love Hurts (Everly Brothers, Emmylou Harris, Nazareth).

All in all Rod Stewart falls into his comfortable old clothes and does a mostly remarkable recording. Still The Same ..... Great Rock Classics of our Time is a no-brainer for Stewart fans, and has already spent it's first 2 Weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard top 200, and has spent it's second week in the #1 position of Bilboard's Top Internet albums Chart.
