incorporate the Year End best of 2006, this way you can see what was hot
in 2006 according to us. You can use the information for fun or to help
you with your holiday shopping needs!
There are always more albums than will fit into any one
top ten list of 2006, but we wanted to narrow down the search for
the best of 2006. Here we simply have the very best Hard Rock
/ Metal albums of 2006. As with any year end "best of" list we are
sure you may not agree with all the choices, but this is how we at Rikks
Revues saw the year, 2006, in Hard Rock and Metal music, and
maybe 2007 will be even better - Rock On!

#1
- Incubus - Light Grenades
Released late November 2006, Incubus show
they have the right stuff all over again. A surprise to some that
Light Grenades is actually one of Incubus' best CDs yet,
the 5 piece California thrashers are like a fine wine, getting
better with age. Their fifth album is a winner and a Rikks Revues
pick for Best hard rock / metal CD of 2006!

#2
- Breaking Benjamin - Phobia
Although this is their third album, many might
have missed them before. The Single Diary of Jane
brought a new audience to the Pennsylvania based band fronted by
Ben Burnley. Breaking Benjamin now prove themselves to be
a true hard rocking act on the rise, for sure one to watch in the
future. Released August 8, 2006.

#3
- Daughtry - Daughtry
Another latecomer, also released in November.
Chris Daughtry, whose sturdy rock presence and distinctive vocal style
won the hearts and minds of "American Idol Season 5" fans across
the globe, released much anticipated debut album. You can search the
net and find many negative reviews and comments about Daughtry,
but the bottom line here is, if not for being an American Idol
contestant, this CD may well be at the top of many best of 2006
lists.

2006 .

- Deftones - Saturday Night Wrist
Saturday Night Wrist
was produced by Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Jane's Addiction) and
former Far guitarist Shaun Lopez. Bombastic yet vulnerable,
aggressive yet thoughtful--combinations that made the Deftones
among the most respected and acclaimed bands in hard rock.

#7
Wolfmother - Wolfmother
One of the Most Talked About
Australian Rock Outfits. Their Music Incorporates 60's and 70's Hard
Rock Influenced Styles Ala Blue Cheer, with Some Psychedelic Riffs
Thrown In. On this Debut They have also Re-recorded all Four Tracks
from their Debut EP. Wolfmother may borrow from the past, but
they push it hard in to the future of Heavy Music as well. Released
May 2, 2006.

#8
- Stone Sour - Come What (Ever) May
The sophomore release from Stone
Sour, featuring the track "Through Glass" which took Rock
and Pop radio by storm. Stone Sour present an urgency that we
thought had disappeared from Heavy Music. We also recommend the
tracks ZZYZX Road, the title track, and 30/30-150. The
side project of Slipknot's Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim
Root may leave you wondering which is the real deal, Slipknot
or Stone Sour? Released August 1, 2006 .

#9
- Three Days Grace - One X
Three Days Grace
latest release One X shows they are not willing to leave well
enough alone. Pounding into the minds of unsuspecting victims
(listeners) a barrage of negativity, however the full force of the
music itself is enough to pull you back to the up side. One X
Includes the hits Animal I Have Become and PAIN.
Released June 13, 2006

#10
- Audioslave - Revelations
Including the mega-hit Original
Fire, Audioslave have proven to nay-sayers that they are
a completely real heavy act that is a force to reckon with. Now when
someone mentions Audioslave, you don't hear them comparing
the band to their pasts, Soundgarden and Rage Against the
Machine. Chris Cornell belts out the notes better than
ever, which brings Audioslave into the top 10 releases of
2006! Released September 5, 2006.
